throw away, offering excellent
wine tasting and dining, whether
it be a picnic in the garden
areas or at one of their excellent

Every year from June to December
hundreds of Southern Right whales
visit the shallow bays of the
South African coastline to nurture
their offspring. These mammals
visit the area of False Bay
but the official routes for
whale spotting are Fare Marine/Clarence
Drive on the R44 from Gordon's
Bay to Rooi- Els. Along the
spectacular scenic route (R44)
you can travel to Hermanus,
the most famous land whale spotting
regions in South Africa,only
an hours drive from Gordon's
Bay.
The nearest towns to Gordon's
Bay are Strand and Somerset
West. Strand offers safe swimming
at tidal pools such as Melkbaai
and Harmony Beaches. Also in
Strand there is an Olympic size
swimming pool for those cooler
days. Somerset West is the shopping
capital of Helderberg with the
Somerset West Mall. The mall
offers a sophisticated approach
to shopping with a multitude
of modern and stylish stores.
For all sport enthusiasts there
is a vast range of sporting
activities that can be enjoyed
in and around Gordon's Bay.
So close to the Indian Ocean
one can enjoy water sports such
as Sailing,deep Sea Fishing
and Scuba Diving. For the more
adventurous Shark Cage Diving
and Hang Gliding are available.
You can also try mountain hiking
and biking in the beautiful
Western Cape Mountains. For
more relaxing exercise our health
clubs and gyms are also accessible.
For the golf enthusiast there
are over twelve golf courses
within 45 minutes drive. In
the Helderberg region there
are three eighteen hole golf
courses. The Gary Player designed
Erinvale Golf Course hosted
the World Cup in 1996.
Somerset West Country Club and
Strand Golf Course where one
can hire golf equipment. There
is also the Vodacom Golf Village
driving range for the novice,
all just a short drive away.
